Big News on The View!

Have you heard that Elisabeth Hasselbeck from the show, The View is pregnant again! I was so surprised today when I first found out. When I'm able to, I enjoy watching The View. They always having something going on around there! Elisabeth is my favorite! I love to see what she is wearing and how she has her hair fixed for the day. Boy, would I LOVE to have her wardrobe!!! :) My first daughter Sarah and her first daughter Grace were born just days apart and then believe it or not... my second child Elizabeth was born within days of her second child, a son named Taylor. So... now I hear she is having #3! And, what... she didn't inform me until now so we could keep this thing going! Only kidding! :) I always enjoyed hearing her talk about her pregnancies, as at the time I could totally relate with her. It will be fun to see how #3 goes for her.

On another note, my little babes have been a little under the weather this week. This past Sunday Elizabeth came down with a 24 hr. stomach virus... on Monday Sarah got the stomach virus... and then on Tuesday, Mike came down with the stomach virus... And, so far (my fingers are crossed) I have NOT gotten sick. I can't believe it! Mike says it's only by God's grace. They have all been so sick but Mommy is holding up the fort around here. :)

Blessings,
Until next time...

"Give Me a D"

Daddy with his #1 Fan!

Tonight Sarah was thrilled when we told her she could go with Daddy to his basketball game. She took a nap today (which we try not to encourage so she will go to bed on time) so she was able to go. She wanted to cheer for Daddy tonight so we got her all dressed up as a cheerleader before they left.

Here she is yelling, "Daddy, Daddy, he's our man, if he can't do it, no body can!!!

Needless to say, Daddy is pretty proud of his #1 Fan!!!

Doesn't she make such a sweet cheerleader!?!

Blessings,
Until next time...

My Inauguration 2009 Favorite Highlights

Today is January 20, 2009 and the 1st African American President of the United States of America was sworn into office. What a day of joy this has been for so many people all over the world. I have to admit I always enjoy the pomp and circumstance of these kinds of occasions so my face was pretty much glued to the TV off and on all day. I tried to convince Sarah of our need to watch all the festivities but she wasn't too interested or impressed with the goings on. How can you blame her, being a 3 year old!?! So... in honor of today I wanted to post my favorite highlights from the historical Inauguration of 2009.

My Favorite Highlights:

1) First and foremost, Michelle Obama's choice of dress for the day! I loved what she wore to the inauguration (minus the green gloves and shoes) as well as to the inaugural ball this evening.

2) Loved what her girls were wearing - they were dressed in adorable outfits that depicted charm and style.

3) LOVED all the President Lincoln influence - so tastefully done!!! How honored he would feel this day.

4) You know I love fine china - so... of course, loved that the inaugural luncheon was served on a replica version of Lincoln's presidential china pattern.

5) Loved all the sights of the people over in Africa who were rejoicing for Obama - so fun to see them so happy with his success here in America!

6) Loved that President Obama chose to be sworn in using President Lincoln's Bible!

7) Loved the Pastor's words in the benediction prayer - remember the ending... it was so funny, yet so true, something like this... "looking towards that day when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around, when the yellow will be mellow and the white will embrace what is right..." :)

8) Beyonce's version of "At Last" which the President and his wife danced their 1st dance too.

9) Rick Warren's Opening Prayer at the Inauguration today. LOVED it so much!!!
and finally...

10) That history was made today - that America elected an African American to be President - Glory to God in the highest!

On this glorious day in American history I must give a mention that I am not ashamed in the least to tell you how grateful I feel to have had such a godly gentleman (Mr. President George W. Bush) and his lovely wife serve our nation for the last 8 years. I'm sure this day is bittersweet for him and his family! It saddens me to no end though how disrespectful some have treated him in the last few months of his presidency (throwing shoes at him...). I am cognizant of the fact that I don't know all the facts but what I do know is that he is a man of integrity and faith and has respected the office of which he held to its utmost. For this he should be respected and honored! "Safety" defined his presidency and I am grateful for it! 911 was a day like no other and because of his administration we were able to live in a safe America. I am grateful to have had a man who feared the Lord sit in the oval office for the last 8 years. I like the words of the writer, Mimi Knight. She says, " 'No fear!' is the mantra of the present generation. But 'No respect!' is more like it." Romans 13:1 says, "Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities for there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God." And 1 Timothy 2:2 instructs us to pray for those in authority. She continues to say, "A child who is taught to respect earthly authority will have the pattern in place to understand respecting godly authority."
It was electrifying watching the Inauguration today and seeing so many millions of people rejoicing over our newly elected president. Joy, hope, love and victory are in full abundance across this land! How exciting! Our newly elected president is poised with dignity and confidence which is reassuring to our nation. Hope and change are the themes of his message. But, aside from politics I can't help but wonder deep down if his message of hope is just for politics or is it truly for the eternal betterment of all people. Time will tell his motives. I pray it's for the betterment of mankind. In the mean time, we as believers must put our eternal hope in Christ. He ALONE will never forsake us or leave us. As one of my beloved ministers, Charles Stanley says, "When you place your trust in the One person who can never fail you. Your life will change in an amazing way." It's wonderful to have such an electrifying leader of our land, but only He (our Heavenly Creator) can be completely trusted. And, so with all this said, it is my privilege to welcome Barack H. Obama as our new President to the United States of America. It is my hope and prayer that he will lead this nation on his knees before the One who put him in office.

"Of all the terms we could use to describe Jesus when He was on earth, politically correct is not one of them. As Christians, we may feel that our job is to make peace and get along with everyone. Sometimes it is; sometimes it isn't. Our kids need to see us stand up for what is right and stand against what is wrong, even when it would be easier to just look away. Jesus had no trouble respecting the mores of the society into which He was born (Matt. 22:15-21), but He also didn't hesitate to rock the boat when it needed rocking (John 8:3-7). -Mimi Knight

My Snowbabies

My 3 Snowbabies! Aren't they sweet!?!

"Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow..."

"Well, the weather outside is frightful..."
Ha! I just had to check my blog and see if my weather pixie girl shows SNOW right now and YES, it does! I just love this little weather pixie girl I have recently added to my blog. Depending on the weather her outfits change and the sky around her changes! Come to think of it, I'm just wondering where her gloves are!?! And, she better start pulling out her sled. Ha! :) If you want to make your own weather pixie, click on mine and it should take you to their website and walk you through creating your own.
So... yes I am watching the snowflakes fall from the sky right now as I'm writing this. It is so beautiful!!! I can't wait for the girls to wake up in the morning. Elizabeth should be so surprised! :) Sarah was awake tonight when the snow began so she is already about to bust. So far, it looks like we have a good 2 inches, maybe more. Snowflakes are truly so beautiful! I LOVE them! It's so amazing to me how each one is different from the other... no two are the same - another example of God's amazing creation!
Also, I wanted to make note of this day that we acknowledge and celebrate the birthday of the wonderful Dr. Martin Luther King,jr. What an amazing individual who made such an impact on this nation and the world. Thank You Lord for using this great man to impact and change so many hearts and minds. To You be the glory!
I'm now off to pull out some snow clothes for the girls for the morning. I'll post pics tomorrow!

Snowflake Blessings,
Until next time...

Party Fun

This past Saturday I took the girls to a cute Birthday party at a place called Debbie Lou's. They dressed up, had their nails painted (not Elizabeth), got their hair done, danced around, and ate pizza. Both Sarah and Elizabeth really enjoyed themselves. Here are some cute pictures from the party.

Here is Sarah with Desiree, the birthday girl!
Sarah felt like such a princess for the day!

Elizabeth wondering how to get these "wing things" off!!!

Reaching For Righteousness

I wanted to share a little with you about my dear friend Emily Wickham who I can joyfully say has just published her 1st Bible Study workbook, titled, Reaching for Righteousness. Written in her own words, Reaching for Righteousness "guides women through the book of Esther, challenging them to grow in righteous behavior." Daily prayers, Scripture reading, observation, author reflections, and application questions are included." She continues to say, "this workbook is designed for individual or group use and contains instructions for following either a one month, ten week, or thirty-one week schedule." She is a beautiful godly lady who the Lord has graciously placed in my life. We have been friends now for about 8 years and actually had the opportunity to work together before the birth of my 1st daughter. She is a mother of four precious children who she is also homeschooling. She has a new blog now that co insides with her book. I hope you have a chance to check out her website. I just know it will be a blessing to your life. Click here to access her website. I have actually had the privilege of completing the Reaching for Righteousness study and found it to be challenging, uplifting and life-changing.
Emily is also a very gifted poet. There is a place on her website where you can read some of her latest poems. One of my favorites was recently read out loud in our worship service by her husband who was preaching that morning. Here it is:

"Be Near Me"

The world...
Is rushing by
These days.
I want...
To hear your voice
This day.

Hold me
Hush me
Still me
Stop me...
Oh Lord!
Be near me!

Sometimes You feel so close
Yet many times I'm cluttered...
Busy days, exhausted nights,
Responsibilites
And countless activites
My time with You becomes slight.
I just want You to break into
All plans that I have made.
I just want You
To speak into
The noise so it will fade.

"Seek me"
"Find me"
"Call me"
"Hear me"...
My Lord!
You're near me!

By: Emily Wickham

She is such a gifted writer and retreat speaker because of her beautiful and obedient relationship with the Lord. May her words uplift and inspire you in your daily walk.
Blessings,
Until next time...

Christmas 2008

I'm sorry I haven't posted anything lately! We have been "on holiday" for almost 2 weeks now. We're finally back home and I'm scurrying around EVERYWHERE trying to get everything back in order and somewhat organized. Before I go into our Christmas details, I have to share with you Sarah's latest obsession. A few minutes ago she came up to me and said, "Mom, do you know Moe's phone number? I need to call him! I have a present to give The Doodlebops." Yes... she LOVES The Doodlebops. Isn't that sweet!?! I told her I would have to look their phone number up on my computer and that maybe we could get her present to them. She made them a picture that she drew of the three of them. Moe is the yellow one with orange hair. Sarah told me we need to get Moe some oranges so he can eat them for his hair. :)

Both girls thoroughly enjoyed themselves this Christmas. Elizabeth was more aware of everything going on and Sarah's joy and excitement was so exciting to witness on Christmas Eve. Elizabeth spent most of her time by the Christmas tree at whoever's house we happened to be at over the holidays. She enjoyed pulling off and redecorating Christmas trees wherever we traveled. Sarah loved opening presents and playing in all the wrapping paper piles! Here are a few pictures of our Christmas 2008 Memories:

Sarah's manager. I love how she put all the people and animals crowding around to see the Babe in the manager.

Papa and Grandmommie wore Mr. and Mrs. Claus aprons while they prepared our Christmas Eve Dinner.

My favorite Christmas card this year was painted by my brother, Jamie!

Sarah posing with her new "very cool" blue camera!

Grandmommie helping Sarah get ready on Christmas morning.

And, now Elizabeth's turn to get dressed and ready.

Looking at Great-Grandma Mae's Christmas tree... Elizabeth eyeing those ornaments. :)

Sarah playing in the Christmas wrapping paper! :)

Daddy hiding in the paper. Do you see his shirt?

Having fun peeking in presents with Grandma and Granddaddy!

Making a gingerbread house with Grandmommie.

We have so many fun Christmas memories from 2008! With all this said, my soul will not permit me to talk about all this Christmas stuff without acknowledging the reason for it all. The reason we give gifts and the reason are hearts are filled with joy, and the reason for Santa Claus... all of this is because of what took place over 2000 years ago. Our Lord and Savior was born bringing hope and peace to our lost world. Even people who don't believe in Christ celebrate CHRISTmas! Isn't that strange? In fact, the majority of the whole world stops on December 25th to acknowledge what took place so long ago. He wasn't born in a glorious throne. No, He was born in a lowly stable and placed in a feeding trough because there was no room for Him to be born and stay in the local inn. Isn't that interesting? Just like there wasn't any room for Him then, so many of us now don't make room for Him in our lives (with all our Christmas season affairs). Not much has changed! However, He remains the Prince of Peace and Lord of Lords! I'm so humbled by the fact that the Father chose for Him to be born in such a "low" place in society. Also, as you know the shepherds were the first ones to be told of his birth. The shepherd's held the lowest job status in the land. They were the lowest of the low and yet our Heavenly chose them to be the FIRST to hear of His son's birth. I love this! Our Lord is for everyone! Thank You Lord for bringing us hope and peace in Your Son! To God be the glory for great things He has done! Now, I know why they call this THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR!

Blessings from our family to yours,
Happy New Year!
Until next time...
