Saturday was our Elizabeth Rose's 1st Birthday! What an exciting day it was! We hosted a Birthday Dinner Party for her. We served some of her favorites; Fried Chicken, Green Beans, Macaroni and Cheese, Dinner Rolls as well as a special recipe from each of her grandmothers - her Grandmommie's Vegetable Relish Salad and her Grandma's Homemade Potato Salad.
Doesn't she look like a doll here in this picture?!? She is holding the baby doll we gave her. It's a Corolle baby. Corolle is a charming doll company out of France that has been making baby dolls since 1979. I especially love them for their sweet smell of vanilla as well as their commitment to quality.
All in all the party went really well. Hosting a one-year-old's birthday party can be a little iffy. Elizabeth had been getting over a cold and was a little overwhelmed in general with all the birthday excitement going on. After having some tasty dinner and opening a few "fun" toys she began to really enjoy herself and have fun. Both sets of grandparents were here as well as my brother and his wife who have just finished a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail. Her big sister Sarah had a wonderful time as well, enjoying all the family in town and the many surprises that were brought to her too.
Elizabeth was born at 6:30 in the evening so she actually officially turned "1" during the party and... I was most likely holding her at that time. :) She is still pretty attached to "Ma-Ma".
First Birthdays are special aren't they? I guess because of the remembrance of that remarkable day, not to long ago, when she entered the world. How truly miraculous it all was, her growing inside of me, and then just the whole process of the birth. Thank You Lord for choosing me to be Elizabeth and Sarah's mother! May I love and nurture these girls in the way You would desire for me to. Thank You Lord for such a fun and special day!
Here are a few pictures from her special party~ May these pictures bring joy to her one day as she sees how truly loved and cherished she is to all of us.
